Former Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Senator-Elect Paul Bettencourt today endorsed Senator Ken Paxton for Attorney General, stating, “Ken Paxton’s solidly pro-life, pro-family, and pro-business voting record in the Texas Senate is the reason why he has received the support of so many conservatives across Texas in his race for Attorney General. The ‘Taxman’ knows without a doubt Ken Paxton will continue Greg Abbott’s legacy of fighting the Obama Administration on behalf of all Texas taxpayers. Vote for Ken Paxton!”

Bettencourt is known by many as “The Taxman” for the ten years he spent leading the Harris County Tax Office as the elected Tax Assessor-Collector in the nation’s third largest county, as well as his knowledgeable presence as a conservative activist and radio and television personality who continues to champion lower taxes and fiscal responsibility in the public sector.  Bettencourt has also held the offices of Republican Party of Texas Treasurer, Harris County Republican Party Vice Chair and Treasurer, National Republican Party Delegate from Texas in 2000, 2004, 2008, and Presidential Elector in 2012.  Paul has received many recognitions of his statewide effort to reduce property tax increases for all Texas taxpayers.

Senator Paxton commented, “With his solid commitment to conservative principles and his long history of fighting for taxpayers, Paul Bettencourt will be an impressive new voice in the Texas Senate.   Paul’s strong record as an elected official, a business owner and a radio talk show host has earned respect across Harris County.  His is a prized endorsement and I appreciate his support.”

Strake, Jr.; Dr. Steve Hotze, President of Conservative Republicans of Texas; and the Houston Police Officers’ Union Political Action Committee.
