As we bring this year to a close, and look forward to the promise of the new year, let’s take stock of everything that happened these past 12 months! 2013 has been a tremendous year, not only from a legislative standpoint, but also from a personal one.

The entire first half of 2013 my staff and I dedicated ourselves to defending our freedoms in the 83rd Texas State Legislature, in which I served as the State Senator for District 8. There were some setbacks, but overall the 83rd Legislature was a great success for conservatives!

Senator Ken Paxton, Republican candidate for Attorney General today announced the release of a web endorsement video from Kelly Shackelford, Chairman of the Ted Cruz for Senate Statewide Leadership Team and Liberty Institute* President. A nationally recognized attorney, Shackelford was named to the Texas Lawyer list of “Top 25 Greatest Texas Attorneys for Past 25 Years.”

VIDEO: Texas Senator Brian Birdwell Endorses Ken Paxton for Attorney General

In this video message, Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell shares the reasons he has endorsed Ken Paxton for Texas Attorney General. A native Texan and life-long conservative, Senator Brian Birdwell served in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Birdwell was a staff officer at the Pentagon on 9/11 when American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed into the building. Over 60% of his body was badly burned, and he has endured 39 operations to rebuild his body. Birdwell was awarded a Bronze Star for service in the Persian Gulf War and the Purple Heart for his wounds at the Pentagon. He now represents Senate District 22 in the Texas State Senate.
